Loviisa is a charming bilingual town on the coast, east of Helsinki. With a population of about 15,000, this picturesque small town dates back to the Swedish era in the mid-1700s. The idyllic small treehouses in the old town, Laivasilta (the old harbor), and the Strömfors iron mill area are among the most popular places to visit. You can explore the exciting history on a bus tour or by wandering around the city or villages with a guide. During the summertime, you can take a boat to the sea fortress Svartholm. 

In Pernå, you'll hear mediaval stories about Mikael Agricola, the bishop who created the written Finnish language.

In Loviisa, founded in 1745, you can learn about King Adolf Fredrik and the globally renowned Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
